New Buildings, New Opportunities
Jewel & Esk College’s new Edinburgh and Midlothian campuses opened in November 2008. The college has invested millions in state-of-the-art, custom designed and built facilities. The project has provided the college with superbly equipped classrooms and practical areas including fantastic new salons, workrooms, recording studios and training kitchens - all designed to make studying at Jewel & Esk a learning experience second to none.

The Midlothian Campus
If you choose attend a course at the Midlothian Campus, you can look forward to the very best in classroom facilities including specialist spaces for childcare.
The Trades Pavilion will give all you technology students an industry standard training facility with purpose built workshops and the very best in services and equipment. The Pavilion includes five Carpentry & Joinery workshops, a fully equipped Motor Vehicle centre and, for Plumbing & Gas students, new workshops, project areas and gas training and assessment centres
Our Learner Base will give you easy access to PCs as well as more traditional library materials. You will be able to access the Internet and make full use of the printing and scanning facilities in this relaxed and stimulating new addition to the college.
Learning Support and Student Services will be on hand at Midlothian to give assistance and support where you need it.
And when it’s time to chill, you will be able to enjoy a meal with friends in the 150 seat Foodcourt. There’s also a vending bank if you just want to grab a cup of coffee and a quick snack.

The Edinburgh Campus
If you choose a course offered at the Edinburgh Campus you will have the same level of access to Learning and Student Support as those at Midlothian.
There are also lots of open, social spaces at Edinburgh – including the 250 seat Foodcourt and the more cosy and informal Mezz café.
Edinburgh Campus is home to CRE:8, our centre for creative industries (music, sound production, TV, multimedia) and also the Club, where you will find our spa, fitness facilities, hair & Beauty salons and rooftop restaurant

The new CRE:8 zone sits at the heart of the faculty offering courses in music, TV production and multimedia.

Based in the newly designed and built Trades Pavilion at our Midlothian Campus, the Faculty of Technology trains students in a range of engineering disciplines and construction & service trades.
Many of our students are apprentices, honing and developing their knowledge and skills while employed by local businesses. We train a large number of carpentry and joinery and plumbing apprentices, drawn from across the South East of Scotland, as well as engineering apprentices employed with local manufacturing and maintenance companies.
If you come to Jewel & Esk to study engineering, you’ll specialise in automotive, electrical, measurement and control or mechanical. Whichever discipline you choose you can be sure you’ll be working and learning in a modern industry environment, giving you the perfect springboard to develop your career in the industry or move on to degree level study at university.
We have an excellent reputation nationally for our training in Measurement & Control, producing skilled technicians for the offshore and onshore oil and gas exploration and production industry since 1978. We are one of only 3 colleges in Scotland to boast an Oil and Gas Simulator Platform giving our students a real flavour of work on an oil rig.
