Almost 5,000 professional fireworks worth £65,000 have been stolen from a company's storage unit in West Lothian.
The haul was taken sometime between Saturday and today (Monday) from a site near Hopetoun Estate, Linlithgow.
They were being kept in five steel containers by 21cc Fireworks.
Detective Sergeant Paul Carroll, from Police Scotland, said: "The theft of such a large quantity of fireworks is concerning, not least because of their explosive content, and the potential for serious injury if mishandled.
"The stolen fireworks are potentially lethal if used by members of the public, and we are warning people to be on the guard and only buy fireworks from reputable dealers.
"The fireworks stolen are Category 4 under the Fireworks Act 2003, which restricts their sale to fireworks professionals."
DS Carroll continued: "Those responsible for the theft would have had to use a heavy goods vehicle to transport the fireworks.
"We are appealing to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area on Saturday, in particular involving the movement of heavy goods vehicles, to contact police."
