Ryanair cuts five Edinburgh routes

Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary has announced significant cuts to the airline's services from Edinburgh claiming the decision will result in the loss of 300 jobs.

Speaking at a media conference in the capital on Tuesday morning, Mr O'Leary said "there are cheaper bases elsewhere".

The dispute centres around the fees the airline pays to Edinburgh Airport operator, BAA for things like landing and parking charges.

The deal between the two companies is up in October and the two sides have been unable to come to an agreement.

Routes being axed from April include Rome, Malmo, Murcia, Ibiza and Tallinn.
