A few weeks ago I took my other half away to chill and pamper ourselves with a romantic break in Pitlochry so we headed to Perthshire and stayed for a couple of days at the Atholl palace. The hotel was opened in Victorian times and still has the beautiful old look with fantastic plaster work on all the ceilings.
The hotel is positioned in the centre of Scotland at the Tay and Tummel valleys and if you are like us and love long walks in the country you must try the grounds including the herb garden. There’s golf, fishing and a highland safari and we took our wee boy to see and feed the majestic red deer. We were looking for the golden eagle and. famous grouse but the nearest I got was a small refreshment in the Stagshead bar! My wife couldn’t wait to get booked into the spa for a massage and I must admit I had a head massage which was so relaxing I was horizontal for hours after.
It was a perfect way to end a very busy week and brought back lots good memories for my wife as she used to stay at the Atholl with her family as a child and now our son is loving it all over again. Scotland has so much to offer so do yourself a favour and check out or wonderful country. Pitlochry is perfect for a taste of our amazing natural wilderness and just a short drive from most major towns and cities.
